#YWFIGHTSTIGMA IN SASKATOON

In honour of International Youth Day on Friday, August 12, SEIU-West’s Young Workers Committee (YWC) held a rally in Saskatoon to draw attention to issues surrounding mental health. The rally held next to University Bridge was aimed at fighting the stigma that is often associated with mental health. Organizers were also demanding more support for workers struggling with mental health issues from government and employers with the objective of creating safe spaces for discussion. Read more!

FIGHTING FOR $15 AND FAIRNESS IN BRAMPTON

The Fight for 15 and Fairness is in high gear in Peel Region. More than 80 people attended a community organizing event in Brampton on July 28.
Just days earlier, CUPE Local 1989, Mississauga Library Workers Union, had concluded a three-week strike with a resounding victory. During the strike, I had received numerous invitations to the community meeting and the timing couldn’t have been better. Read more!
