José Fernández was one of the best pitchers in his short 4-year career period, getting cut short by his death on September 25, 2016. José showed excellence not only on the mound, but was an animated character in the dugout with teammates and brought Miami and Cuban Communities together by his spirit on and off the field. He will be missed by the entire baseball community. Our goal is to keep his remembrance strong by getting Rob Manfred and Major League Baseball to create a "José Fernández award", handed out to one player in the MLB who best shows his passion and love for the game. Getting this award passed will help future generations remember José Fernández' love for the game, in a career that was tragically cut short.
