Nestlé is trying to pump more precious groundwater from parched communities in spite of fierce opposition.
Can you chip in to stand up against Nestlé?
A,
Nestlé just got another extension to keep draining millions of litres of groundwater from a community in Canada, which has faced severe water restrictions all summer because of an historic drought.
Unlike other regions in Southwestern Ontario, Wellington County doesn’t get its water from the Great Lakes. It relies on groundwater to survive.
But Nestlé could be sucking it all up at just $3.71 per million litres of water.
A people-powered movement can stop this: already California, Oregon, and the tiny county of Hood River have stopped Nestlé’s water theft with our support.
Nestlé must be stopped -- we’re going to do that by blanketing the airwaves with hard-hitting radio ads to target Provincial premier Kathleen Wynne and other key leaders to get them to reject the extension.
We have a good chance of winning: Wynne’s already shown signs of waivering.
Every dollar you chip in means more radio ads, making our movement stronger and harder for politicians to ignore.

While Nestlé's been pumping water, water levels at the Aberfoyle well have dropped by a staggering 1.5 meters over four years.
Nestlé will stop at nothing. Recently, the corporation outbid the Township of Centre Wellington for a well that Nestlé would use as a backup for its plant in Aberfoyle. The community wanted the well for a safe drinking water supply.
That's why SumOfUs has joined the Wellington Water Watchers to make sure the message is heard loud and clear.
This fight is real. Community members have banded together to protect their water supply -- in community halls, at neighborhood events, and by bringing their case to local politicians.
We can amplify their voices with hard-hitting radio ads, targeting key politicians as they come back from their sleepy summer doldrums. After a long, hot, dry summer, now is the time to push them to act.
We don't all live in the small community of Guelph, but we can help chip in for those who can't.
Provincial premier Kathleen Wynne is clearly feeling the heat. If she rejects Nestlé's extension, it will send a signal across communities worldwide under the same threat.
Corporations like Nestlé can afford higher water rates, but we can't afford to live without water. This is about protecting the most precious resource we have.
We need to get our message out now, while the Premier is still deciding what to do next. Can you chip in to stand up against Nestlé?
