Well, it’s been one of those weeks here at OpenMedia — so busy that we’re sitting here with that “How on earth is it Friday, already?” feeling!
Here are just some of the highlights: our Save the Link campaigner Ruth travelled to Brussels to meet with top MEPs about the European Commission’s proposals on the Link Tax and intermediary liability. She also presented them with our fresh-off-the-press Guide to the Link Tax, to help MEPs really understand the dangerous implications of the Link Tax for our digital freedoms.
This week also saw us make an important intervention at the Supreme Court of Canada to defend free expression in a case that will have global implications. Sincere thanks from the whole team here to all of you who chipped in to help us make this legal work a reality!
Last but not least, we’re putting the finishing touches on a powerful new tool to amplify Internet users’ voices as part of a crucial Canadian government consultation on national security. Again, the outcomes of this consultation will be felt across the globe, as we work to ensure Canada sets a positive international example on privacy. Stay tuned for more on this next week!
