Over the last month, communities across the province have been advocating for a Poverty Free BC. Organizations across the province held rallies, film screenings, and other events demanding a poverty reduction strategy. We're also proud to be a part of the Fight for $15 BC campaign which presented a petition with over 56,500 signatures to the BC legislature on Wednesday.

1 in 5 children in BC live below the poverty line, and the majority of children living in poverty in BC live in a home with at least one working parent. While 595,000 British Columbians live in poverty, BC is the only province that steadfastly refuses to even consider a poverty reduction plan. Adrienne Montani of First Call: BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition, Deanna Ogle Living Wage for Families Campaign, and Trish Garner of the BC Poverty Reduction Coalition will discuss the current realities of poverty and low wage work in our province and what a poverty free BC might look like.

Following Poverty Free BC Action Week, we sent over 600 postcards from BC residents to the Premier asking her to implement a Poverty Reduction Plan. Here are some ways that you can keep the momentum going.
