It doesn't get much simpler than this. Canadian Blood Services wants a pattern in the collective agreements it has with various unions across the country. A pattern based on a 'few or no guaranteed hours of work' model. Cheap and flexible. Wonderful stuff.

Unless you are one of the people who work there, doing the life-saving things they do for us all, for our healthcare system. If you are, then what CBS wants for you is a nightmare of no benefits, unpredictable hours of work and no ability to plan the simple things in life like family time.

11 part-time workers in Charlottetown PEI are taking on CBS. They're fighting to break the pattern, not just for themselves but for all of CBS' employees. They've been out on a picket line since Labour Day trying to hang onto the (already all part-time) hours they have and stop further cuts. They're fighting for themselves, their families, for Blood Services workers right across the country and for all Canadians facing the prospect of reduced or no set hours of work.

They and their union are asking for your support in this fight. If those 11 workers can take on a coast-to-coast employer like Blood Services the very least we can all do is take a few seconds and send a solidarity message.

Tell CBS to get back to the table and bargain a fair agreement by going HERE.
