Animal Justice will make historic arguments before the Supreme Court

Dear supporter,

We just got the news.

Animal Justice will go before the Supreme Court of Canada on November 9th to argue on behalf of animals.

This is the first time in Canadian history that animal advocates will... make oral arguments before the highest court in the country.

This appeal is critical -- it will determine whether animals continue to be protected from all forms of sexual abuse.

The stakes are high. If the Court rules the wrong way, it will set a dangerous precedent, legalizing some forms of sexual abuse toward animals right across the country. That's why Animal Justice is intervening in this appeal: to ensure it remains illegal to sexually abuse animals in any way, shape, or form.

Animal Justice is represented by excellent pro bono lawyers, but intervening in a Supreme Court appeal is still expensive. Court fees and the costs of traveling to Ottawa for the hearing are quickly adding up. And as interveners, we have to pay some of the costs to the other parties involved in the case.
