Council of the European Union could ratify CETA on May 13
The Council of the European Union (where national government ministers from each EU country meet to discuss, amend and adopt laws, and coordinate policies), could vote to ratify the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) as early as this coming Friday May 13.


Warnings that CETA could be provisionally applied
The French daily newspaper Le Monde reports that the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic... and Trade Agreement (CETA) and its controversial Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) provision could be "provisionally" applied even without ratification by EU member state parliaments.


Fredericton chapter opposes Monsanto's carcinogenic herbicide glyphosate
The Council of Canadians Fredericton chapter opposes the herbicide glyphosate.


Kent County chapter collects signatures to ban the spraying of glyphosate
The Council of Canadians Kent County chapter collected 206 signatures on an anti-glyphosate petition at the Moncton Farmers' Market yesterday.


Peterborough chapter opposes sale of PDI to Hydro One
The Council of Canadians Peterborough chapter opposes the possible sale of the city-owned Peterborough Distribution Inc. (PDI) to the provincial utility Hydro One.
