B.C. could be a climate leader -- have your say before March 25

Hello Green Jobs BC network – it’s been a while!
With a change in our federal government and increased energy around climate action after the Paris talks, now’s the time, more than ever, to be pursuing our shared vision of an inclusive, sustainable economy that provides good, environmentally-friendly jobs.
That’s why we’ve been hard at work putting together a new website for Green Jobs BC (check it out here: http://www.greenjobsbc.org/) and why we’re reaching out with a rare opportunity…
..The B.C. government wants to hear from you on climate action. Until March 25, the government is asking for your input... on their Climate Leadership Plan. The next 6 weeks marks a critical phase in the province’s planning process – we must remind the provincial government that British Columbians care about climate action.
Back in May of 2015, the province announced a review of its climate policies and appointed a Climate Leadership Team of experts -- representing First Nations and local governments, the academic, business sectors -- to carry out the review. The team released their 32 recommendations (you can read a summary of these here) for the province and now, the government wants to hear what you think.
B.C. used to be a climate leader, but no longer. Despite renewed energy on climate action worldwide after Paris, B.C. has yet to act and is not on track to meet its 2020 emissions reduction targets.
These recommendations include measures that would put B.C. back on track to being a climate leader and they are similar to many of the recommendations Green Jobs BC made in our submission to the Climate Team. The government has yet to confirm it will implement the recommendations, and they will only do so if British Columbians like you voice your support. That’s why we’re asking you to speak up now.

We know that British Columbians care about a stable economy and a clean environment. We also know that the province can create good, family-supporting jobs that also help us achieve our climate goals. That’s why we we’re calling on you to have your say and remind the provincial government that British Columbians want their home to be a climate leader.
