On April 22, the Council of Canadians Fredericton chapter began a 'Publicly Take Back the Letter' campaign over concerns that Fredericton city council had secretly sent a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressing the city's support for the Energy East pipeline.
Citizens of Edmundston celebrated their Council's leadership last night, sending a clear message to other municipalities in New Brunswick and the Province of New Brunswick.
The Council of Canadians organized a successful town hall meeting in North Bay last night in opposition to the proposed Energy East pipeline.
This morning Prime Minister Trudeau and Liberal Cabinet members received an open letter endorsed by over 40 Canadian organizations representing hundreds of thousands of people, calling on them to reject the pressure to champion tar sands, or oil sands, pipelines.
We now know more about the timeline for the Energy East pipeline.
Today, On April 28, is the Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job. CBC reports for the first time organized labour has chosen to rally around one workplace health issue in particular: asbestos.
The Council of Canadians supports the occupation of the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) office in Winnipeg.
