Did you know that Canada's animal protection laws are the worst
in the western world? Our animal cruelty laws haven't been
meaningfully updated since the 1950s, and we're failing animals as a
result.
But on Monday, Parliament will debate a new bill that could finally bring our laws into the 21st century. MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith put forward Bill C-246, the Modernizing Animal Protections Act, which would:
Monday's debate is just the first step on a long road to
passing... this legislation. As usual, the industries and special interests that
oppose stronger laws for animals are already trying to block Bill C-246
from becoming law.
