“If we are doing it to the Earth, what do you think is going to happen to us?”
It was standing room only at the Grad Club in Kingston last night, as a crowd gathered to hear Maude Barlow speak about her new book Boiling Point: Government Neglect, Corporate Abuse, and Canada’s Water Crisis.
The Council of Canadians has long supported the endorsement and implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), which has major implications for the Alton Gas Storage Project, the Pacific NorthWest LNG terminal, the Site C dam, and the Energy East and Trans Mountain pipelines.
Ottawa-based Council of Canadians energy and climate justice campaigner Daniel Cayley-Daoust spoke against the Energy East pipeline at a public meeting last night in Merrickville (which is located about 85 kilometres south of Ottawa).
Montreal-based Council of Canadians trade campaigner Sujata Dey is highlighting a new study that says the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) would cost Canada 23,000 jobs.
