Hey Paov,
The 2016 Global Citizen Festival was incredible, but the very best part is the impact Global Citizens have made to help solve the world’s biggest challenges.
Click here to see what we’ve achieved together. In the months leading up to the festival, Global Citizens took a total of
1.3 million actions to campaign on issues that led to
44 commitments and announcements worth $1.9 billion. The impact of this will reach
199 million people.
Our top campaign victories were on sanitation, women’s economic empowerment, and education. Here are the highlights:
- 60,000 actions led to the Netherlands committing $350 million over 3 years, as the first step towards fulfilling the commitment they made to Global Citizens last year to improve sanitation for 50 million people, and water for 30 million people by 2030.
- Corporations such as Walmart, UPS and Johnson & Johnson committed to purchase $100 million in products and services from women-owned businesses over the next three years.
- 350,000 actions led to $40 million in new financial commitments from key donor countries such as Canada, Denmark and Australia.
For the full list of commitments and impact you’ve made, click here. Global Citizen is more than just a concert. It’s a movement of activists, artists, and Global Citizens like you, working together to end extreme poverty in our lifetime.
The festival underscored the power Global Citizens have to make the world a better place. Together, we must continue to work for a world where everyone can survive and thrive.
Thanks for doing what you do,
The Global Citizen Team
