Today is International Women’s Day, an annual celebration of girls and women around the world.

Socially, economically, politically, and culturally, women have made remarkable strides towards achieving gender equality.

Yet, girls and women everywhere continue to face systemic barriers that prevent them from leading healthy, productive lives and overcoming their place in society. They are disproportionately impacted by violence, discrimination and barriers to attending school and pursuing skilled work.

Call on world leaders to tackle the barriers that hold girls and women back.

There is much more work to be done to level the playing field between women and men. That’s why International Women’s Day is about hearing a call – to join us wherever you are. About raising an alarm – drawing attention where there is work to be done.

On International Women’s Day, take action to advocate for free, quality education for girls. For women’s health, hygiene and sanitation. For justice through gender equality and the law. And for an equal financial future for women.

As Global Citizens, let’s have our voices heard and turn awareness into meaningful action for girls, women and a brighter future for all.
