PAOV —

It's a story making headlines: Canadian pastor Lim was finally freed after 2.5 years of imprisonment in North Korea. He had been sentenced to a lifetime of hard labour. Lim reports he was forced to work eight long hours a day in the blistering summer sun, and long winters were spent manually breaking apart frozen coal by hand. His release marks a life-changing moment for him and those who fought for him to come home.

It was a moment made possible, in part, by two Canadian law students, Ji Soo An and Hyun-Soo Lim, who felt moved to action after hearing about Pastor Lim’s case. In 2015, they started a Change.org petition calling for Prime Minister Trudeau and the United Nations to increase diplomatic efforts to bring Pastor Lim home.

More than 185,000 people signed their petition — Now, their fight for justice has finally been won!

Their recent victory shows why we at Change.org believe in the power of uniting people to have life-changing impact. We help everyday people like Ji Soo An and Hyun-Soo Lim start petitions, gain support and engage with decision-makers — all completely free of charge.

We couldn’t do this without the support of our members. Their contributions mean passionate people can unite on Change.org to fight injustice, here in Canada and abroad. Will you consider becoming a member today?
