What's new in the Discussion Forum?
This forum is dedicated to discussions of how women's issues are impacted by climate change and how we can develop a feminist ecosocialism.
What we'll talk about could also be called: ecosocialist feminism, feminist materialism, ecosocialist/eco-feminist theory to name just a few. Powerful scholars have begun this journey, and women are already playing leading roles in grassroots as well as international struggles to bring about a feminist ecosocialist future. We can do our part, too.
Activists, readers, writers and the curious are encouraged to explore here how women and those who identify as women:
- Find their burdens under capitalism to be disproportionately heavy;
- Experience directly how climate change hits women first and hardest;
- Sense or know that feminist envisioning or revisioning of socialist/Marxist thought can provide essential perspectives for the road forward, and a world in which we will not only survive--but thrive.
- Bring feminist insights to the practical struggles of ecosocialists and our allies.
This is the place for the already publishing as well as those just beginning to wrestle with concepts like these. If you feel a connection with the above statements, welcome! You are invited to the sharing process.

In the News
Historic flooding grips Texas and Louisiana, a
visibly extreme jet stream is in advance of Hurricane Irma, while half a world away, global warming fueled deluges swamp a third of Bangladesh where it
impacts 42 million people. Wildfires approach
8 million acres in the US during a summer of extreme western heat along with severe eastern storms. British Columbia
skies have been covered in smoke for much of August. Climate change makes this
Bolivian village a ghost town. The visuals are persistent - have a look at the weekly updates at "
Climate and Extreme Weather News." Harvey and other impacts globally do not come
out of the blue. It is way past time to talk about climate change. This is the
new normal. It's about
Facing the Anthropocene: fossil capitalism and the crisis of the earth system.
George Monbiot says, "we can't be silent on climate change or the unsustainability of capitalism."
Emergency! We've never been more clearly in need of a socialist and ecological revolution!! Renewable revolution? The
fossil fuel era is over...BUT still it rules our lives...The reality of renewables is that
clean energy hasn't risen for 25 years! The answers are not technological alone, but
radically political. When we look at Harvey we need to
foreground climate justice. Support and the DAPL resisters who are
now being sued for $1billion. Support
front line land defenders, and and
front line sea defenders. Stop fossil fuel at points of extraction, production and consumption.
Join the NGO's but please lead them to a more
radical approach to systemic change. Let's radically change our
conception of work that is presently humanly alienating and ecologically destructive.

"The Tiny House Warriors: Our Land is Home is a part of a mission to stop the Kinder Morgan TransMountain pipeline from crossing unceded Secwepemc Territory. Ten tiny houses will be built and placed strategically along the 518 km TransMountain pipeline route to assert Secwepemc Law and jurisdiction and block access to this pipeline. This is one of the most serious threats to our Territories.
We have never provided and will never provide our collective free, prior and informed consent - the minimal international standard - to the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline Project." https://www.facebook.com/tinyhousewarriors/

SCNCC is a joint Canadian and US coalition of ecosocialists and fellow travellers united in the belief that capitalism is driving climate change and that a radical international grassroots movement can stop it. Green capitalism is a dead end. So are liberal parties like the US Democrats and the corporate friendly approach of most Green NGOs. SCNCC believes the climate justice movement will unite with the labor movement and other struggles for liberation to create an alternative to the upside down world shaped by fossil fuels and corporate power. Another world is possible, but we need more ecosocialists to make it happen.
