Update on CoDev Partner NOMADESC

Marching in Buenaventura

NOMADESC continues working with indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities in Buenaventura who won a 21-day civil strike earlier this year. At that time, President Juan Manuel Santos’s government promised to present a bill to Congress to create a 10-year special development plan for Buenaventura, and even pledged to invest US$500 million in Colombia’s most important port city. This short video presents one way the people of Buenaventura are defending and protecting their territories threatened by extractive economies.
