PAOV -
I grew up on Puyallup tribal lands in Northern Washington, born from a long line of people who fought to protect our sacred salmon and our Mother Earth. But today both are at great risk from an 8 million gallon liquefied natural gas facility that Puget Sound Energy wants to build in the middle of our home.
Join me in demanding that Washington Governor Jay Inslee take action to stop Puget Sound Energy’s facility.
The transportation and transfer of liquefied natural gas is dangerous, and the high-traffic location Puget Sound Energy has selected for this facility would exacerbate the chances of gas leakage, fire, and even explosions.
My grandparents live within the blast zone for this proposed facility, on land that has been occupied by the Puyallup people for over 200 years. The Puget Sound Energy facility would put the thousands of people living near the plant and fracked gas wells in danger of exposure to toxic chemicals. Even worse, it would lock us into a future dependent on the fossil fuels which are causing our planet to warm, and exacerbating climate disasters like Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Maria, and the wildfires in BC and California.
