A,
My name is Hannah, and I’m SumOfUs’ Executive Director. As so many of us do at this time of year I’ve been looking back at the last 12 months.
2017 has been a hard year for many of us. But looking back, it's astounding what we've achieved together. None of this incredible work -- and I mean none -- would’ve been possible without you, A.
You're giving this community a fighting chance at beating Nestlé.
After Nestlé sued a tiny community in Michigan for trying to protect its water, the community was drowning in debt. SumOfUs members around the world sprang into action, and together, thousands of you chipped in enough to cover the township’s $30,000 USD legal fees!
Osceola Township Treasurer Martin Nieman said that without our help, the township would probably have had to declare bankruptcy. Now, Osceola Township can keep up their incredible fight to protect their community’s water from Nestlé’s corporate greed.

Of all of the incredible and critical bee fights we’ve been part of this year, one of the moments I keep coming back to is getting a group of beekeepers to Bayer’s annual shareholder meeting.
Thanks to donations and support from members like you, beekeepers were able to go to host a protest right outside Bayer’s annual meeting. And when Bayer filed a lawsuit to ban protest in the square outside the meeting, your donations had incredible impact: they funded an emergency lawsuit to make sure protests could take place anyway.

Together, we put a pause on the Bayer-Monsanto merger from hell -- and thanks to your donations, tweets and petitions, we got the EU to do a full investigation into the merger rather than giving it the green light!
European Commissioner Vestager even responded directly to our campaign on Twitter.

To stop Monsanto from getting its favourite weedkiller chemical approved in Europe, the SumOfUs community signed petitions, called politicians, emailed decision makers, and chipped in to run opinion polls in multiple countries.
When you found out that the official Renewal Assessment Report from Europe's food safety authority copied and pasted text directly from Monsanto documents -- and was then used to approve a five-year license for Monsanto's glyphosate -- you ensured legal complaints against the new glyphosate license can be filed all across the continent.
Thanks to you, the end of glyphosate is no longer a question of if, but when.

When President Trump killed a program called DACA — Deferred Access for Childhood Arrivals — he put 154,000 young people at risk of deportation unless they quickly came up with $495.
But you fought back. Thousands of you chipped in to protect young people from Trump's hateful policies and raised $30,000 for United We Dream, The Undocublack Network, and the Youth Leadership Council — enough to cover the renewals for over 60 people.

Thanks to you, 90% of advertisers have now pulled their ads from Breitbart News (AKA Trump New) in the past year. This campaign has been so successful that Breitbart executives themselves have said that Breitbart has been unable to go ahead with its planned global expansion.
There’s no precedent for this kind of massive industry shift -- and you are a big part of the reason it happened.
If you're still reading, thank you. At SumOfUs we stand for a fair, kind, and just society where we support each other as well as the most vulnerable in our communities.
Over 90% of our money goes to program costs, meaning it goes directly to important fights all over the world to hold corporations to account. And we do all this vital work with a staff team of fewer than 40 people spread all over the world.
We have ambitious plans to double our impact next year -- and to do that we need to know that we have your support.
Will you consider making a special gift now to help us double our impact in 2018?
If you've saved your payment information with SumOfUs, your donation will go through immediately:
From the bottom of my heart, thanks so much in advance for your support. I wish you a restful and happy holiday season.
Hannah Lownsbrough
Executive Director
