We won! BC Supreme Court ends indefinite solitary confinement in federal prisons across Canada

Today, in a landmark decision, the BC Supreme Court ended solitary confinement in Federal Prisons across Canada.

This is a ground-breaking moment for prison justice in Canada.

Today’s victory belongs to them, to their families, and to everyone inside and outside of prison who fought tirelessly to end this unconstitutional and deeply harmful practice.

Solitary confinement leads to prisoner suffering and deaths. Some spend weeks, months, and even years in small cells without meaningful human contact.

Today’s decision means that they will no longer suffer from the severe physical and psychological harm because of that isolation.

Thank you for standing with us. Because of your support, we won.
