That was big!

This is what people power looks like. On Friday, the Leadnow community joined forces with 350.org and dozens of local groups to pull off over 60 snap actions across the country, in support of the Indigenous-led resistance to the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

Thousands gathered at MP offices coast to coast, and then went inside to deliver water collected along the BC coastline, to highlight the risk of oil spills.

Thousands more joined in on social media to amplify our message and took to the phones to give MPs the message directly.

Your Day of Action made headlines, with dozens of local news stories, and national coverage from the CBC and the Canadian Press. [1,2]

And you got the government’s attention: Environment Minister Catherine McKenna and Liberal MP Terry Beech were both so freaked out that they issued statements directly addressing your Day of Action. [3,4]

We even sent Kinder Morgan share prices tumbling, costing them over 3 billion dollars in value. [5]

Together, we showed the Liberals that voters across the country are determined to protect the water and climate from Kinder Morgan’s dirty pipeline. Let’s keep up the pressure.

If we can flood Liberal MPs and Ministers with phone calls today -- while they are still reeling from the power of your Defend the Water Day of Action on Friday -- it could be what it takes to convince the government to back down on Kinder Morgan.

Click here to call a key Minister to demand that they stop trying to push the Kinder Morgan pipeline through without the consent of First Nations and local communities.

I'LL MAKE A PHONE CALL

Phone calls go a long way. MP offices track the number of calls they receive, and report back every day. A flood of calls to follow up on our day of action could tip the scales and force the Liberal government to back down.

We’ve worked hard together and we are so close. Let’s push this over the finish line and make the Kinder Morgan pipeline history!

Onward,

P.S. We’ve collected some of your pictures from the day of action into a photo album - check it out here!
