Dear friends,
Earlier this week I asked you to join a mass organizing call to discuss the next steps in the fight to stop Kinder Morgan and the response was overwhelming. In just a few days 800 of you registered for this webinar -- meaning we are at capacity.
However, we will have a digital overflow room. So if you weren't able to join in, click here to join us at the top of the hour for a national organizing call about the next steps in the Kinder Morgan resistance.
We will get the call started in less than 10 minutes at at 5pm PT/6pm MT/ 7pm CT/8pm EST/ 9pm AT for 1.5 hrs
See you soon,
Katie
Friend,
This Sunday, Justin Trudeau pledged to spend billions of public dollars... to bail out Texas oil giant Kinder Morgan and try to save a tar sands pipeline that we know would be a disaster for the climate, bulldoze Indigenous rights and put the entire Pacific coast in danger.
We can’t let this happen. That’s why this Thursday, we’re going to try something new, and something big -- hosting a national, mass meeting to get to work on next steps to stop Trudeau’s big oil bailout and prevent Kinder Morgan from putting the climate, the coast and Indigenous rights in danger.
This won’t be your average conference call. We’re going to get down to work, and we’re going to need everyone to show up ready to dig in and start organizing. We know this is a big ask, but this is a big moment.
Can you join? Here are the details.
What: A mass ‘barnstorm’ organizing meeting where we’ll talk about, and get to work organizing concrete next steps for stopping Kinder Morgan.
When: Thursday, April 19th at 5pm PT/6pm MT/ 7pm CT/8pm EST/ 9pm AT for 1.5 hrs
How to join: RSVP to join the national organizing call here
This isn't just another webinar, this is a meeting where we're going to get to work, and we'll ask people to sign up to host or attend actions.
On Thursday, Cedar George Parker, a young Indigenous leader from the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation and Eriel Deranger, Executive director of Indigenous Climate Action, and member of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN) in Treaty 8 of Northern Alberta will share how Indigenous communities are leading the fight to stop destructive oil pipelines and keep tar sands in the ground.
We will also hear from Emma, a resident of Catherine McKenna’s Ottawa riding, who will share how her community has been organizing to hold McKenna accountable to her climate promises.
Will you join myself, Cedar, Eriel, and Emma for the the mass organizing call Thursday?
The next few weeks are a critical window in the fight to stop Kinder Morgan. Join the call to learn how you can stand up to Big Oil, and in solidarity with Indigenous peoples on the frontlines of the fight to stop Kinder Morgan.
With love and rage,
Katie
