Our amazingly generous friends at LUSH have provided a gift box for everyone attending the CoDev Annual Solidarity Dinner.
This year CoDev is presenting America Latina al Dia with our annual International Solidarity Award.
For over 40 years, the America Latin al Dia (ALAD) radio show has provided Lower Mainland residents with key coverage of Latin American social, political and cultural landscapes from a social justice perspective.
Through the decades, ALAD has carried the voices and struggles of teachers, maquila workers, union leaders, indigenous activists, migrant workers and communities threatened by Canadian transnationals to listeners in Vancouver and around the province – many of them representatives of CoDev’s Latin American partners. As a bilingual program, ALAD serves both local Latin American communities and English speakers with a thirst for social justice and Latin American and Caribbean culture. Listening to ALAD is also a great way to improve your Spanish!
Created by South American political exiles in 1977, ALAD continues broadcasting every Saturday afternoon from the studios of Vancouver Cooperative Radio, 100.5 FM in the Downtown Eastside. ALAD’s volunteer collective has been made up of different waves of Latin American immigrants and local Canadians who produce the show weekly to bring to the airwaves the voices and struggles silenced by mainstream corporate media.
Don't miss out - see you on Saturday, June 2nd at the Maritime Labour Centre!
