This filthy-rich CEO is unbelievable

Loblaws billionaire CEO makes as much money in one day as cashiers who work for him make in an entire year -- and now he’s trying to block a proposal to pay them fairly. [1-2]

Sign here if you think it’s wrong for Loblaws to make billions in profits while refusing to pay their workers a fair wage.

ADD YOUR NAME Loblaws’ billionaire CEO Galen Weston just sabotaged a plan to pay a living wage to more than 192,000 people who work at Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Loblaws and Shoppers Drugmart.

Weston makes over $7.5 million a year off the backs of people who earn poverty wages in his stores. But at Loblaws’ annual shareholder meeting last week he rallied shareholders to vote down a proposal to pay the people who work for him enough to feed their families. [3-4]

Leadnow member Erin has started a petition calling on Loblaws to pay their employees a living wage. The story is already blowing up in the media, and a flood of signatures now could force Loblaws to reconsider the fair wage proposal.

If you think billionaire CEO Galen Weston should pay the people who make him millions of dollars in profits every year enough to support their families, will you sign the petition now?

Minimum wage rates in some provinces are so low that people who work full-time jobs are living below the poverty line -- and many are forced to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. [5]

Loblaws could drastically improve the lives of thousands of Canadians by paying them a fair wage -- and they’ve got the the money to do it. In the last three months of last year alone, they made $11 billion in profit. [6]

We need to blow the lid off this issue while it’s still in the news. If enough of us sign the petition, we can show Loblaws that their customers are furious. It’s the first step towards forcing them to pay the people who work for them enough to support their families.

Will you add your name now, and call on Loblaws to pay a living wage to the people who work for them?

We know that when we come together to take on cashed-up corporations who are mistreating the people who work for them -- we can do some serious damage. When we took on Tim Hortons for making cruel cuts to their employees' benefits, their brand took a huge hit, and their stocks started to plummet. [7] Now, we need to turn up the heat on Loblaws.
