Dear Paov,
It’s time to rid our landscapes of poisonous neonicotinoid pesticides.
You may remember that in August, Health Canada announced their proposal to ban two bee-killing pesticides! The phase-out of these bee-killing neonics would take five years after the proposal is approved. But there’s a catch…
They don't have a deadline. They could drag on the approval of the ban for years. But there is a deadline for the public consultation and we only have one month left to comment for change.
Without a deadline for the ban, this proposal could sit in limbo forever. Even then it would take 5 more years to phase out the neonic pesticides.
New research shows that bees are becoming addicted to neonics as exposure increases (like human addiction nicotine). Our beloved bees are becoming addicted to deadly poisons.
Health Canada must approve this ban as quickly as possible and get rid of their 5-year phase-out.
