A transformative plan to fight climate change r1 ...

It’s time for a Green New Deal

Dear Paov,

Scientists have laid out an enormous challenge for us – cut emissions in half by 2030 or face catastrophic climate change. We need a solution that fits the scale of the problem.

At the same time, we must address the many ways Canadian society remains deeply unfair. Wilderness Committee has joined together with a broad coalition of unions, faith communities, Indigenous organizations, student groups, environmental societies and poverty advocates to call for a climate plan putting people first.

We’re asking you to join us and pledge your support for a Green New Deal.

It’s an idea that's time has come: a massive investment in building communities across the country, starting with the ones who’ve long been pushed aside and ensuring nobody is left behind. Indigenous rights must be central to this effort. Every Canadian should have access to affordable housing, clean transit, renewable energy and thriving ecosystems.

You can read my blog post here about how a Green New Deal might shape the future.

Together, we can build the mother of all movements to tackle the cascading crises we face. To answer all these challenges we need a policy stretching across industries, walks of life and geography. And to get that we need to show this plan has the support of thousands of Canadians. Will you join us in calling for change? Pledge Your Support When I’m old and grey, I hope I’ll be able to tell the story of how we stared down climate disaster and overcame it together. And it will all be thanks to folks like you. Thanks for standing with us.

For the climate,
