ANCESTRAL PRIDE AND SAVAGE
FAMILY ~ Creating a Culture of Resistance Speaking Tour - JANUARY 13 AND 14TH,
2014 ~ on Lekwungen, Esquimalt and WSANEC territories
INDIGENOUS LAND DEFENDERS SPEAK ON MINING, SOLIDARITY AND MORE
Gwaiina and Xhopakelxhit of Ancestral Pride will be speaking on building a
culture of resistance to colonialism, imperialism and capitalism. Come and
listen to these front-line, community-based land defenders speak about their
vision to protect their lands and water from mining and to defend their ways of
life.
Imperial Metals is proposing an open pit copper mine on Catface Mountain
(Chitaapi). Open pit mining is horrifically and irreversibly damaging to the
environment and ecosystems. Catface is within Clayoquot Sound and is located
within Ahousaht First Nation Territory. Chitaapi is Ahousaht’s to protect. If
the mine is established on these lands, they will become uninhabitable.
Resistance Hip Hop artists Savage Family will... also perform. You don’t want to
miss this!

Hi yes2scs key volunteers,
Just a reminder about next week's orientation session for all those interested in putting energy into the Yes2SCS campaign! The orientation will cover off a short history of harm reduction organizing in the City; the local, provincial and federal stance on SCS; details on the campaign, and strategies for reaching our first year targets. We'll be doing some strategy work, so please come with a mental list of your connections and social networks that you can tap for this campaign.
The orientation session will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 6:00-8:30pm at the Central Meeting Room of the Victoria Public Library (Central Branch) at 735 Broughton Street. This is the room that faces Broughton and it is top to bottom windows. We will provide food!
In the meantime, check out our facebook page and send it through your connections (almost 400 likes just last week - let's see if we can hit 500 for next Monday!) https://www.facebook.com/yes2scs
