Before we dive into this new decade — the one where we turn the tables on the extinction crisis, climate chaos and the destruction of fragile ecosystems — let's take one more look at what you made possible in 2019.

You made our recent year-end amazing: $121,000 raised, 1,950 gave to defend the wild, half of you’ve given for over 5 years! We’re strategic and nimble because of you: 0% corporate donations, 96% individual donations, 4% private foundations.

CRITICAL AREAS WE'RE WATCHING

Your commitment allows us to be on the ground where and when we need to be — preserving old-growth forests in the Walbran Valley and Catchacoma Forest, protecting provincial parks of Duck Mountain and Algonquin from industrial development and reporting live from the unprotected “Donut Hole.”

Your donations and activism extended our reach immensely in 2019 to help allies with maps, demand action from government bureaucrats and educate thousands. We produce maps for monitoring critical areas, First Nations partners, government officials and campaign allies. You took action for climate and wild places and wrote 51,477 Letters, made 465 phone calls and attended 25 rallies. You reached out to demand wilderness preservation, endangered species habitat, climate action, old-growth forests and parks defence. You reached from Coast to Coast to Coast to make it possible to distribute 176,000 educational newspapers. Thank you for choosing to support these critical environmental campaigns into the next decade. Not only is 2020 the start of a decade of transformation — it is the Wilderness Committee’s 40th Anniversary! That means a lot more work, a big party and a lot of change ahead. I’m glad we’re in this together.
