Dear Friends,
Pacific Peoples’ Partnership, MediaNet and Open Cinema are presenting Stories of Surfing and Cycling for Peace in West Papua as a three city tour this February 2014. The tour combines screenings of Isolated plus homecoming performances of Jeremy Bally’s... Pedalling for Papua.
Isolated is a feature documentary film that follows elite world surfers on a journey to find remote waves around the islands of Indonesia. What they discover, however, is an unfolding atrocity in West Papua, linking gross human rights violations, military occupation, and natural resource extraction. www.isolated.tv
Pedalling for Papua is an international bicycling and performance tour which concluded in December 2013. Campaigner Jeremy Bally travelled nearly 22,000 kilometres on bicycle to share the story of West Papua around the world. Bally has returned home to share the performance as well as his experiences on his tour with local audiences. www.pedallingforpapua.com
The events will provide opportunities for audiences to see many sides of this complex, tragic and beautiful story through the eyes of explorers, athletes and storytellers.
