There are rumors that a federal election could be called at any moment. Just recently, an Angus Reid poll found that health care is the top-ranked issue priority in the country, and we are getting ready to make sure it is treated as such. For example, we plan on making national standards in long-term care a central issue when the election is called. You have demanded legislated national standards that eliminate profit in long-term care.

A federal election is a key moment to win change, but we also know that deep systemic change takes time, consistent public pressure, and ongoing accountability. The best way to support the ongoing movement for deep systemic change in public health care is to become a sustaining monthly donor.

Our work goes beyond just a potential federal election. As you know, there is still much more that we need to do to push for deep, long-lasting systemic change in health care.

We have heard from many of you how the public health care system does not always meet your needs. We want our work to change that. In these summer months, we are laying the groundwork for an active Fall 2021 continuing to organize & advocate for a better public health care system. Monthly donors allow us to do this behind-the-scenes work by investing in periods of research, strategy, and relationship-building with new allies.

Your monthly donation will contribute towards ongoing action to:

  • reduce wait times so you can get the surgery you need
  • give you better health outcomes through team-based care primary care that accounts for your social and environmental needs
  • prevent new pockets of profit and speculation in health care in the emerging field of virtual health care
  • shine a spotlight on why mental health treatment needs to be covered within the public system
