Last chance to stop a critical part of Tilbury LNG

They can’t export LNG without this

Gas company FortisBC tried to sneak one by us.
They split the Tilbury LNG project in two. It would expand its existing storage facility on the Fraser River in Delta into an LNG plant capable of fueling and exporting fracked gas. Tilbury LNG would require thousands of new fracking wells and pollute as much as the entire city of Vancouver. But to refuel ships and export LNG it needs a marine jetty into the river.
We’ve got until Sept. 7 to tell the province to reject that jetty.
Together, we’ve already opposed the expansion of the facility. But years ago Fortis also applied for a marine jetty to let them fuel ships and load barges on the Fraser River. For some reason, this is being treated as a separate project — which is BOGUS!Now it’s near the end of the review process and the ball’s in your court.
The BC Environmental Assessment Office has opened up one final comment period for the marine jetty portion of the Tilbury LNG project. It would require dredging a key route for salmon and increase tanker traffic through critical killer whale habitat. And it would open the door to the export of fracked gas for decades to come.

It’s long past time to stop approving new fossil fuel infrastructure. We’re already seeing deadly heatwaves and wildfires across the province. Enough is enough.
