UPDATE BCHC Annual General Meeting - November 9th
Members of BC Health Coalition are encouraged to attend our Annual General Meeting on November 9th from 11AM-3PM (with a break at noon). This is your chance to learn about the state of the coalition and our work, and to get involved in shaping the direction of our organization. If you are a member, please register here*.
This year we are honoured to welcome Dawn Thomas as a guest speaker for our AGM Keynote Webinar at 11AM. Dawn is Associate Deputy Minister of Indigenous Health and Reconciliation. She will speaking about the "In Plain Sight" report released last year which showed how anti-Indigenous racism exists within the health care system. ADM Thomas will be sharing progress updates on... the recommendations in the report as we approach the one year anniversary of the report release. This will be an opportunity for you to hear about what we can do to address Indigenous-specific racism in health care. This keynote webinar is open to the public and the webinar can be accessed at this Zoom link on the day of the AGM.

A vision for public mental health care
The time is now for public mental health care. Our current public health care system covers few mental health resources, and what is covered is often too little, too late. It doesn't have to be this way.In this second part of a mental health panel series on November 25th, the BC Health Coalition will bring together key leaders in the area of mental health to explore a vision for public mental health care. End BC's health care wait period for immigrants
The BC government has walked back on the decision to cut off COVID-related care coverage for new BC residents. While this is temporary relief, it's not enough. Sign the petition to permanently remove the 3-month wait time, an ineffective and cruel treatment of new immigrants in BC.
OPINION Canada has a health-care investment problem
"Public health coverage is deep but narrow, and Canada spends less on health than other OECD countries. Canadians deserve smarter health investments".
