Sunday, Dec. 12th was the International Universal Health Coverage Day. The United Nations marks this day to highlight "the need for strong and resilient health systems and universal health coverage", and we couldn't agree more.

As we begin wrapping up another year of extreme pressure to our public health care system, we need to ensure that we hold the government accountable and fight to invest in a health system that leaves no one behind.

Thank you for supporting our work this year. Together we have made a difference on the health care issues that matter most in the lives of British Columbians. We couldn’t have done it without you. Will you continue your support for our work going into 2022 by making a year-end gift?

When the health of the most vulnerable in our society is at risk, we all suffer. Now more... than ever, there is public support and energy to strengthen universal, public health services.

In 2022, among many other issues, we expect to:

  • Continue fighting to ensure that provincially insured health care coverage for services related to cases of infection with COVID-19 is extended to all people. Already the government has announced its intention to end this coverage for migrants who have been here for three months or less.
  • Continue calling for well-funded, enforceable and legislated long-term care standards provincially and federally.
  • Continue to defend our public Medicare system by responding to the Appeals Court decision on the Cambie case when it is released.

We are gearing up for another full year of work defending and strengthening public health care in 2022. Will you help us meet our full potential by making a year-end gift to the BC Health Coalition?
