We hope you’re having a great summer so far.

At West Coast, we’re so grateful to be connected with folks like you who are passionate about protecting the environment through law – it’s what motivates our staff lawyers, communicators, fundraisers, administrators and strategists to continue our work.

Today, we want to share with you some additional ways you can take action this summer to support our work. Check out the action tools we have in place for changemakers like you who want to leave behind a better, healthier planet for generations to come.
TAKE ACTION WITH US Sue Big Oil
Join this historic movement with WCEL to urge local governments to sue fossil fuel companies who have known for decades that burning fossil fuel would lead to climate change. They continue to invest in misinformation and lobbying against climate action so that they can make sky-high profits, while communities pay the costs. Now it’s time for Big Oil to pay its fair share. If you haven’t already, please sign the Sue Big Oil Declaration. Sign the Declaration Addressing Environmental Racism
Environmental racism is a harsh reality that affects many Black, Indigenous and other racialized communities across Canada. Bill C-226 focuses on this problem and advances environmental justice in Canada – and it’s currently making its way through the House of Commons. You can help ensure this bill passes by sending a letter to your local MP today.
Send a Letter Protect Biodiversity Through the Law
The accumulating impacts of human activities like logging, mining and oil and gas development have taken a serious toll on biodiversity in BC. We need bold legal solutions to address these interconnected challenges. Send a letter today urging the BC government to follow through on its promise to enact a new BC law for biodiversity and ecosystem health.

You can also help take care of the planet in other ways through fun, summer activities – like shopping at your local farmers market, hosting a beach cleanup with your peers, and continuing to advocate for the environment and climate at your next gathering with friends and family.
