Dear Paov,
Join us for the first-ever screening in Victoria of the award-winning documentary Coextinction.
The film explores the worrisome decline of the Southern Resident orcas and the multitude of factors that have caused this decline. It also makes a powerful case for a more holistic, coordinated approach to coastal management.
Coextinction premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2021 and follows the astonishing journey of the last 74 Southern Resident killer whales across the Pacific Northwest. After a mother orca carries her dead calf for 17 days, two filmmakers spring into action with Indigenous leaders and scientists to attempt to protect one of the world’s most iconic species.
