Connecting with places and people
Hi Paov,
Every year, we get out on the land with as many community members and volunteers as we can to connect people and wild places. And our 2024 field trip season was one for the books!
We organized 15 wild hikes, canoe trips and other outdoor activities across the country, mobilizing over 200 volunteers from the public and local partner groups to do hands-on work in support of nature conservation. And we have so much to tell you.
We’ve written a... new blog about our public fieldwork programs in Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia, outlining why we do each project and giving you a look into what these trips are like — illustrated with beautiful images from some of the trips.
Please check out the blog to learn more about how trip participants fostered relationships with landscapes, and learned about the Nations that have always lived on and stewarded them.
While the Wilderness Committee is always out on the land to assess risks to wetlands and document destructive logging practices, our public field trips are occur in the spring, summer and early fall.
So while the sun has set on our 2024 program, our team is already at work planning more awesome adventures in 2025! This work is one of the things that sets the Wilderness Committee apart, and we’d love to have you out on the trail with us one day soon!
For the wild,
Associate Director
Wilderness Committee
