#NoEnbridge / Defend our Climate Rally – Sat. May 10th

#NoEnbridge Rally Poster

PAOV,

Last November I emailed you about a rally aimed at sending a clear message to the federal government about the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline: reject this crazy project or suffer the political consequences.

Despite the cold, we had an incredible turnout. For me, it was a truly awesome experience looking out over 5,000 British Columbians who came together to celebrate climate action and demand a safer future.

As it stands, it doesn’t seem like Enbridge or the federal government got our message. You’d think they would have backed away from this proposal by now, given the massive public outcry. Just last month the good folks of Kitimat – the site of the proposed terminal for Northern Gateway – voted against the proposal in a plebiscite. But Enbridge hasn’t been swayed, even after such a strong signal from the community that would have gained the most jobs from the project.

Here in Canada we’re slipping into a democracy gap, where the views of our communities are being ignored in the name of Big Oil profits. The only way to stop the slide is to come out in force, once again, and let our voices be heard as one.

That’s precisely why we need you to join us on Saturday, May 10th for an even bigger and better #NoEnbridge Pipeline rally. There will be speakers representing First Nations, local governments, environmental organizations and more.

The event is part of a national day of action inspired by the need to Defend our Climate, uniting thousands of Canadians from coast to coast to stand up for the future of our communities and the planet.

Here are the details:
