We hope you can participate in this action to protect Grace Islet, joining Salt Spring residents and First Nations to apply pressure on the province of BC to act without delay. Please share!

____________

RALLY TO PROTECT GRACE ISLET -Please join us at the Deputy Minister's office at 820 Blanshard St. in Victoria from 11:30-12:30 on Wednesday Sept. 10.

We’re fed up with the provincial government’s disrespect and mis-handling of Grace Islet burial site, and are determined to rally in support of the local Chiefs’ demands for an immediate Stop Work order. Together with Chief Vern Jacks and other First Nation leaders and elders, we’re repeating the call for Minister Thomson to reverse his decision allowing residential construction on a First Nations cemetery, and to designate Grace Islet a heritage site NOW.

We’ll then walk the few blocks to the Legislature lawn and continue our rally, with the big NoHouseHere banner, drumming and songs.

Please come and show solidarity with First Nations.

With continued respect, resolve and appreciation to you all from Joe Akerman, Donna Martin, Phil Vernon, Briony Penn, Andrea Palframan, Sandra Leckie & Jean Wilkinson for Protect Grace Islet, Salt Spring Residents for Responsible Land Use & Salt Spring Islanders for Justice and Reconciliation
