https://facebook.com/events/548452245256279 Tuesday September 23 at 7pmAmbrosia Centre, 638 Fisgard street
All are welcome to this FREE event!
September 23rd, 7pm, at the Ambrosia Center (on the Homelands of the Lkwungen and WSANEC Peoples, 638 Fisgard St) theUVic Pride, UVSS Students of Colour Collective (SOCC), the anti.violence.project, and the Positive Space Network (PSN), are happy to bring you VIVEK SHRAYA and a QT2IPOC (queer, trans, two-sprit Indigenous and people of colour) showcase!
This free event is part of Vivek's book tour to launch his new book, She of the Mountains, a beautifully rendered illustrated novel that weaves a passionate, contemporary love story with a re-imagining of Hindu mythology. Both narratives explore the... complex ways that we are formed and transformed by love, and show how the process of learning to love and be loved by another can ultimately—and sometimes painfully—bring us back to our selves.http://vivekshraya.com/books/she-of-the-mountains
Vivek is a a Toronto-based artist working in the media of music, performance, literature and film as well as the winner of the the We are Listening International Singer/Songwriter Award and a two-time Lambda Literary Award finalist. More about Vivek here:http://vivekshraya.com/about

FAITH IN ACTION COVENANT AND PETITIONThe steering committee of Faith in Action, a
multi-faith social action/justice organization, has worked over the past months
on a statement expressing our concerns and responsibilities as citizens of
British Columbia in the form of new social covenant (SEE ATTACHED).
It is our hope that you will read it, share it with
friends and colleagues, and if this is some thing that speaks to you and your
values, (and we sincerely hope it is) please join us on the steps of
Legislature on October 8 at 11:30 am. We envision a large gathering
of our diverse citizenry present to affirm this social covenant.
If you cannot lend us your presence, would you
consider endorsing the covenant either personally, or on behalf of your
organization? Our website is http://www.victoriafaithinaction.ca/ and our Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/FaithinactionBC?ref=hl
