Baby monkeys will be torn from their mothers and used for psychiatric experiments at University of Wisconsin. Sign my petition to stop these cruel animal tests.

Scientists at the University of Wisconsin plan to torture defenseless baby monkeys for cruel psychiatric experimentation. Newborn rhesus macaque monkeys will be traumatically torn away from their mothers and then sent into solitary confinement without nurturing. There, the isolated monkeys will be subjected to various threatening maneuvers and stimuli including live large king snakes all intended to terrorize the infants. The baby monkeys are killed by the age of two and their brains dissected.
Decades ago, similar experiments at the same institution drew widespread criticism and condemnation from the medical community because the baby monkeys subjected to such trauma went into shock, huddling in the corners of their cages, clutching themselves, rocking and self-mutilating. The research was deemed unethical by all prevailing standards.
As an alumna of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, I was horrified to learn that my alma mater plans to conduct these highly controversial and cruel experiments and relentlessly torture and kill baby monkeys. The mental anguish experienced by the baby monkey’s mother is also unimaginable given the intelligent and socially advanced nature of the primates.
My work in genetic research attests to the value I hold for its role in the advancement of medicine. Do not be fooled by the University's far-fetched, unsupported claims that this study will unlock the key to childhood distress.
The National Institutes of Health and University of Wisconsin are wasting time and millions of taxpayer dollars by inflicting trauma on these monkeys and their mothers instead of meaningfully helping people.
