Greetings: On October 10, 2014, the BC Environmental Assessment
Office ( BC EAO) sent out a memo to the Working Group on the Raven
Coal Mine Project, that Compliance Coal Corp. had notified the BC EAO
it intends to resubmit its Application for an Environmental Assessment
Certificate ( Application) for the proposed Raven Coal Mine Project in
the next few weeks.
When the Application is submitted, the BC EAO will have 30 days to
conduct an evaluation of the submission. The Working Group will assist
the BC EAO in the evaluation of the Application to determine if the
deficiencies identified in May 2013, in the previous Application, have
been adequately addressed.
If the evaluation of the Application finds the deficiencies have been
adequately addressed, then that will set the stage for the
Environmental Assessment process to move from the... Pre-Application
stage to the 180 day Application Review Stage.
While there is no guarantee the deficiencies will be adequately
addressed and the Application will be accepted, I wanted to alert
everyone that it's possible we'll be moving into the 180 day
Application Review Stage in the not too distant future.
CoalWatch will monitor the situation on a daily basis and will issue
updates as more information becomes available. Updated information can
also be found on our website: www.coalwatch.ca
