Learn about climate solutions in the Salish Sea and beyond!

Rolling Fwd on Climate Poster

Dear PAOV,

It seems like every few weeks a new report or warning is issued by the international scientific community about the severity of climate change, and the need for swift action. With this barrage of bad news – combined with the lack of will from our provincial and federal governments to tackle the problem – it can be tough to keep a positive attitude.

That’s why we’re organizing Rolling Forward on Climate: A Forum on Climate Solutions in the Salish Sea and Beyond. This event coming up in Victoria will highlight activist initiatives and real, positive climate alternatives in an interactive town hall space.

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 29th, 7:00-9:00 pm

WHERE: Elliott Building, Room 167, University of Victoria (view map)

We’ll hear from Joseph Boutilier, a 24-year-old Victoria man who recently travelled to Ottawa to raise awareness about climate change…on a unicycle. Joseph will share his story and his message of Unity for the Climate.

The event will also feature Andrew Moore, project manager for the T’sou-ke First Nation alternative energy initiative. T’sou-ke has won awards for its leadership in solar energy, and Andrew will share the challenges and successes of implementing climate-friendly alternatives.

The event will highlight our exciting new Save the Salish Sea Pledge campaign, which aims to unite opposition to climate-changing fossil fuel exports in Canada and the US. The goal is to build and foster community groups to take action on climate change all around the region. Check out the brand new pledge website here.

The news on climate change is serious, and the Salish Sea is at risk. But we know that by organizing and working together we can stop risky tar sands and coal export proposals, overcome this global challenge and create a better future.

We hope you can join us for this informative and inspiring evening. Please RSVP via the Facebook event and invite your friends!
