The Cuban 5 Are Finally FREE

Dear friends,After 16 years in U.S. jails the last three of the remaining Cuban 5 have been finally freed. This is no doubt a great victory for the 5, for Cuba, for justice and for all of us who have been working for their release.
Thousands of committees and thousands of politicians, artists, students, professors, religious organizations, writers and so many people around the globe have been constantly working for this day to come. This has shown that a united and determined people's struggle for justice can win and has won.
Our small Victoria Friends of Cuba committee has also been involved in that struggle for their release since the beginning. We were able to bring to our community one of the wife's and one of the daughters of the Cuban five and we had also brought Aleida Guevara (Che's daughter) and numerous other speakers to make our supporters and community aware of the details of the... 5 and to demand their realease.
Our campaign on the 5 included showing of films, bringing speakers, writing letters, signing petitions and postcards, making phone calls, sending emails and financially supporting the International Committee to Free the 5. This would not have been possible without our committee and your support.
We thank all of us who contributed to this campaign, for the release and freedom of the 5 and to show once again that with unity and determination things can get done.

THE CUBAN FIVEARE FREE!!!This morning, breaking news on all news agencies says that our three brothers, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, and Antonio Guerrero are free!!! According to the news, Alan Gross is flying back to the United States now, and President Obama will be speaking at about noon today, Eastern time, to announce that and further developments.

This victory is possible because of the years of struggle of the strength and determination of our brothers Gerardo, Antonio, Ramon, Fernando and Rene, and all the Cuban people, the struggle of people in the United States and around the world, of all the efforts to demand justice and freedom for the Cuban FIVE! The National Committee to Free the Cuban Five congratulates our brothers and the Cuban people in their victory! 16 Years of imprisonment could not break their spirit!
