Please complete the online feedback form before February 15, 2015; the RSS Targets Backgrounder (download) provides details related to the target questions. A DIALOGUE: CLIMATE CHANGE, DIVESTMENT AND SOCIETY,

This event, held by the University of Victoria, will bring together a panel that includes a student, a Suncor executive, and a member of the Beaver Lake Cree Nation, among others, to discuss sustainable investment practices and how divestment... can address climate change. SACRED ECOLOGY

Join the UVic Chaplan for an introduction to the practices of sacred ecology, every Monday from 6:30pm to 8pm (except Family Day). Engage in an ecologically sensitive spirituality for these times, and explore an emerging worldview that integrates the wisdom of spiritual traditions, science and systems theory, eco-psychology, deep ecology and our own local skills and knowledge. RETURN OF THE RAPTORS, WITH DR. RON YDENBERG (SFU).

UVic’s Fraser Building, Room 159

Populations of raptors—hawks, eagles and falcons—were decimated by massive applications of pesticides in agriculture and in forestry in the decades following WW II. But their populations recovered after DDT was banned in the early 1970s, and nowadays they are a common sight, even in cities. Event details

SPOKES' COMMUNITY BICYCLE DONATION

Saturday, January 31st 9:30AM

Centennial Stadium

Donate your unwanted adult bicycle to the UVic SPOKES Bicycle Recycling Program.

Donations will help replenish the depleted stock so SPOKES can continue providing students with affordable and environmentally-friendly transportation!

Volunteers will be located at Centennial Stadium at UVic for donation drop-off from 9:30am to 2:00pm. Facebook link

DISCUSSING THE RIGHT TO A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT: SAANICH COUNCIL Monday January 26th, 7:30 PM

Council Chambers, Saanich Municipal Hall, 770 Vernon Avenue

Saanich Council will discuss a motion to declare our right to clean air, clean water, healthy food and preservation of natural spaces. Attend and lend your support. Meeting starts at 7:30 and you do not need to register beforehand to speak. Each person can have 5 min.

VICTORIA GREEN TEAM RESTORATION EVENTS

Anderson Hill Park

The Victoria Green Team will be doing restoration work in the majestic Anderson Hill Park that contains the rare Garry-oak rock outcrop ecosystem. Meeting spot is the entrance to Anderson Hill Park.

The Victoria Green Team will be planting large Douglas-fir trees and removing English Ivy and other invasive plants from the beautiful Saxe Point Park in Esquimalt. Meeting Spot is the parking lot in Saxe Point (at the end of Fraser Street).
