It's hard to believe that another year is almost over.
In just a few short days we'll be ringing in 2015, which means that this is your last chance to make a tax-deductible donation to the Wilderness Committee to protect Canada's wilderness and wildlife in 2014!
Here at the Wilderness Committee, we've spent some time reflecting on a year's worth of successes, including:
- The protection of Chitek Lake Provincial Park and the expansion of Whiteshell Provincial Park in Manitoba;
- The introduction of new regulations in Ontario restricting neonicotinoid pesticides, which have catastrophic impacts on bee populations;
- The federal government's decision to reject Taseko Mines’ proposal for an open-pit gold and copper mine at Fish Lake in BC; and
- The subsequent announcement of a new Tribal Park in Tsilhqot’in Nation territory that will protect Fish Lake and the surrounding wilderness.
The passion and dedication of supporters like you made these victories possible!
And as we look ahead to 2015, we know that we'll need your help more than ever. From the recently approved Site C dam project to the continued loss of forest habitat from coast to coast, from pipelines to fracking and the devastating impact that the associated fossil fuels will have on our climate, we have many battles still to fight.
Your tax-deductible gift of $25, $50 or $100 will go a long way to help ensure that the Wilderness Committee can continue to provide a voice for Canada's threatened wilderness and wildlife. Donate before midnight on December 31st to ensure that you get a 2014 tax receipt.
