Kinder Morgan Kamloops Event Poster

Hi PAOV,

We have met so many people across the Lower Mainland face-to-face since we first raised the alarm about the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline back in 2010. In the past few years, we’ve traveled across British Columbia to communities affected by the proposed tar sands pipeline to get the word out and listen to their concerns.

This is a big, destructive project with a route that reaches deep into the interior of our beautiful province. Along the way, it crosses hundreds of streams and waterways, and hugs the mighty salmon-bearing Fraser River as it heads out towards the Salish Sea.

Next week, we’re excited to get the opportunity to speak with community members in Kamloops – another city along the proposed pipeline route – at a town hall meeting about Kinder Morgan’s plans, and what the project means for our climate and our waters.

The iconic wild salmon in those waters have been the bedrock of the region’s ecosystems and its people for millennia, and these amazing fish remain a critically important part of the province’s culture. Just one oil spill or leak could have devastating impacts on wild salmon populations and the communities that rely on them.

Co-hosted by the Wilderness Committee and ForestEthics Advocacy, this meeting will be a great chance for residents of Kamloops and beyond to learn the latest details and share their views on Kinder Morgan’s risky proposal.

Events like this meeting are the perfect opportunity for you to learn more and ask questions about the impacts and approval process for the project. You’ll also find out how recent laws have altered the nature of public participation in hearings on projects such as this, and find out more about how this proposed pipeline would affect our chances to tackle climate change. Please help us spread the word about this town hall meeting by telling your friends and family all about it.

Thank you, and I hope to see you on Wednesday!
