Spring is here! RAVEN calling r1 ...

Spring - when all things in nature are renewed; as we head towards the sun everything seems brighter, doesn’t it? This season has brought the team at RAVEN renewed hope and optimism as we launch phase 2 of Pull Together, actively raise funds for Beaver Lake Cree and perhaps take on a new project? Stayed tuned for that news.....

As First Nations litigation becomes one of the most effective tools for saving our environment, the need for RAVEN continues to increase. It is because of that need the RAVEN’s team has grown by 100% in the last year!
So do you ever wonder who
are the people behind RAVEN? Or where your donation goes when you support our core programming?

When you donate to the core costs of RAVEN, it helps to cover the wages of our new and much-needed staff, which became crucial to achieve the growth that organically occurred as more people recognize our work and reach out for our support.

Leah, our new administrative assistant works 10 ‘NGO’ hours weekly. She is a rock star who has worked tirelessly to organize our office and improve efficiency. Leah’s efforts allow our ED and our development director to spend more time working on programs, building relationships with donors, and planning for the future. Josie, our ‘sent from heaven’ grant writer seems to perform miracles in her five hours a week. In five months, Josie has filed 13 new grant applications. She is also busy researching new grant and fundraising opportunities.

You may have noticed our new and improved website, launched last fall. Christopher Roy of Marketworks Media continues with us on contract to keep the website and databases fresh and up to date, which allows RAVEN to expand our capacity and gives us the ability to manage our programs more effectively. Andrea Palframan, RAVEN’s social media coordinator - and source of all those amazing graphics and great blogs - rounds out the team. In just ten hours a week, Andrea covers a lot of ground, tweeting, posting on Facebook, creating shareable graphics and content for the website to keep supporters like you up to date on our programs and activities.

We keep overhead low, salaries are reasonable and not inflated. It still means we need to bring in $200K a year to keep the doors open and staff employed.

The impact of your donation allows our dynamic, powerful team to continue to work for the brave nations willing to stand up for the environment and their culture. We ask that you support RAVEN’s ongoing Sustainability Campaign to help ensure we can continue to accomplish our goals as we work towards a country that recognizes the caretaker values of First Nations. Consider making a small monthly contribution - easily done through our website.

We recognize that you may have supported one of our campaigns recently which we are extremely grateful for. Donations made to programs go to the programs. Core funding is separate. And RAVEN takes no government funding so we can remain independent in the work we do.

From all of the staff at RAVEN, thank you for your support!! We look forward to continue serving First Nations communities as fund raisers for legal actions that allow them to enforce their rights and title and protect their traditional territories… for the benefit of all.
