On March 31st, the Office of Campus Planning and Sustainability announced the winners of the Student Sustainability Champion Awards. Congrats to Emily Thiessen and Leat Ahrony on receiving the award. A big thanks to our winners and all the nominees for their contributions to sustainability at UVic!
Exams are finished on Wednesday. Happy summer to all of you students from the Office of Campus Planning and Sustainability!

POLAR BEARS II: POLAR BEARS IN SUMMER/FALL

Polar bears are remarkably resilient to changing climate: they've survived a multitude of past climate shifts, some of inconceivable magnitude. These lectures will teach you some little-known facts about Polar bears and their arctic sea ice habitat, with some historical context. See the UVic site to sign up for attendance. A biologist with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada will speak about the ongoing work within the department to develop research and monitoring plans for Marine Protected Areas and Large Ocean Management Areas.

This day long workshop is the 3rd annual IESVic Alumni Workshop will serve as a venue for participants to discuss energy systems, the state of the world and technology. Registration is $40 for all sessions and $100 to attend the banquet at the University Club the night of May 1st.

Join UVic’s Don Fleming for a 25 km meander on a mid-Spring day around some of Victoria’s best gardens with a stop at each for a walk about and a brief presentation from Don. Bring a picnic lunch. More info on the following Meetup site.

4TH ANNUAL CREATIVELY UNITED FOR THE PLANET EARTH WEEK FESTIVAL

This free, all-ages community event features local food, 35 local musical acts, 60 innovative displays, electric assist bicycle test rides, electric vehicles, world-class photography, films, children's activities, art and afternoon tea!
