An evening to support Treaty 8 court challenge of the Site C dam

Keeping the Peace poster

Hi PAOV,

Mark Wednesday, May 13th on your calendar!

On that evening from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. the Wilderness Committee and our allies will be hosting an event called Keeping the Peace at the Creekside Community Recreation Centre, located in Vancouver’s Olympic Village. It’s within easy walking distance of Science World and the Main Street Skytrain station.

You are not going to want to miss this amazing gathering!

West Moberly First Nations Chief Roland Willson will be there to speak about why the First Nations of the Peace River Valley so strongly oppose the Site C dam. You’ll also hear about the court cases the First Nations have launched in a bid to save their beloved valley homeland from being flooded out.

Grand Chief Stewart Phillip from the BC Union of Indian Chiefs will be speaking, as will Craig Benjamin of Amnesty International Canada. I will be there too, explaining that a donation to the Treaty 8 First Nations will go a long way in helping them in their court defence of the Peace River Valley.

This is an important chance to support our First Nations allies as they continue to stand up for human rights, cultural survival and much-needed farmland. Please RSVP and invite your friends and family via Facebook!

In addition to the Vancouver event, there are additional Keeping the Peace events planned in Victoria (May 12th) and Kamloops (May 14th).

It has been said that history is made by those who show up. See you at the event!

For the wild,

Joe Foy | National Campaign Director
Wilderness Committee
