WATER RETENTION LANDSCAPE COURSE: With Brock Dolman, June 2 – 6, 2015 at UNCA in Asheville, NC.

Come and learn with us: Basic water retention landscape principles & theory • Patterns in nature • Techniques for rainwater harvesting including dams, swales, terraces & keyline • Design considerations for differing soil types, vegetation, watersheds, regions & climates • Overview of aquaculture & aquaponics • Plus take a water retention landscape tour, and more.

NATURAL BUILDING WORKSHOP: With Mark Lakeman of City Repair, Janell Kapoor of Ashevillage, Steve Kemble & Mollie Curry of MudStrawLove, and Meka Bunch, July 6-10, 2015 in West Asheville, NC.

Penny Livingston- Stark
, co-founder of Regenerative Design Institute & global teacher, designer, speaker & consultant in regenerative design, land management & permaculture.


Mark Lakeman is a national leader in the development of sustainable public places and co-founder of the City Repair Project. Mark is teaching at the Natural Building Workshop in July.


Brock Dolman is the Director of Occidental Arts & Ecology Center’s WATER Institute and Permaculture Program. Brock is teaching at the Water Retention Landscape Course in June.


Toby Hemenway is the author of Gaia’s Garden which for for the last eight years has been the best-selling permaculture book in the world. His new book is The Permaculture City.


Pandora Thomas is co-founder of Earthseed Consulting LLC and author of Shades of Green, a guide for individuals wanting to teach green building to youth.


Dr. Laura Lengnick led the academic program in Sustainable Agriculture at Warren Wilson College, and is author of Resilient Agriculture: Cultivating Food Systems for a Changing Climate.


Professor Will Hooker has been teaching permaculture & small-scale landscape design in the NC State University Department of Horticulture since 1979.


Josiah Cain is a landscape architect with 16 years experience as an ecological design professional. He is currently Chief Design Officer at Design Ecology.


Erik Ohlsen is Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Permaculture Skills Center, a licensed contractor & Founder & Owner of Permaculture Artisans.
